Concerns about the Mara-economy

This may sound really crazy, maybe even irrelevant, but this new event taking place might destroy the economy on this website. While it does benefit the site by giving the users an incentive to do missions/quests, I'm worried that the task of updating prices will cause the "one mp cheaper" tactic to fail, thus forcing a bunch of moderately priced yet common items to be significantly cheaper. If we all compete to have the cheapest items on shop search, the cost of a lot of items will plummet. This means less revenue for players, which obviously is not beneficial. Let me know if there are any logical fallacies/solutions to this dilemma.
