17th Dec 2011 02:05 I'm Alisha, just in case you didn't know, because it doesn't say in my user name
This is a little lame, but it's my best shot, so here goes:
'Go to bed darling, it's getting late.' Alisha told Laroleigh, as Christmas eve grew deeper.
'But mother, I want to wait up and see Santa Claus.' Loraleigh replied as she looked at her new owner lovingly.
' Don't you know..' Alisha began. 'that Santa only comes when everyone in the house is asleep?'
'Really? Does he? Oh okay then Mum.' Loraleigh agreed as she slumped up the stairs of her marahome, taking one last glance at the mince pie and milk which she has previously prepared. 'They will still be there in the morning.' She muttered under her breath as she got tucked up in bed.
Whilst Loraleigh was safe and sound in her snugly warm bed, Santa was outside on his uncomfortable sleigh. CRAAASHHHHH! Went his sleigh as he landed on another roof. Tip toeing across the roof, Santa announced: 'Only two hundred and forty seven thousand, five hundred and seventy eight houses to go!'
Loraleigh racked her brain over and over again, but her questions were still unanswered. 'If I can't see Santa, and I can't hear Santa, and I can't smell Santa, and I can't feel Santa, and I can't taste Santa, he can't exist.' was one of her theories. A bit simple, I know, but she was only 1023 days old. Loraleigh went ahead to say another question out loud to her self, perhaps it would make more sense that way: 'Santa climbs down the chimney, right? So what would happen if a marahome didn't have a chimney?' At this point Loraleigh shot up in bed and stared at the space ahead of her. Once she fully understood why she was shocked, she galloped down stairs to tell her mother some very important facts. 'Mothe-' Loraleigh began.
'Loraleigh, what do you think you're doing? Get back to bed now!' Alisha interrupted.
'But mum I have something important t-' She started again.
'No if's no but's, what if Santa had been here?' Her mother interrupted a second time.
'Mum just LISTEN! Santa wouldn't have been here because you're still awake, and you told me that Santa only comes when everyone in the house is asleep.' Loraleigh explained. Alisha was silenced upon being outsmarted. 'So mum, Santa comes down the chimney, and delivers the presents, and eats the milk and minced pies, right?' Her mother nodded. 'But we don't have a chimney! Santa is never going to come, we'll never get any presents.' She explained breaking down into tantrum-like tears. CRASHH! There was a sudden shake controlling the house. Loraleigh's tears stopped at once. The sound of a key finding it's way into a keyhole occurred from the front door. Loraleigh took Alisha's hand in fright, and together they approached the front door. The door opened somehow silently, as it had always had a creek. And in came Santa Claus, all dressed in red, with the beard trimmed and all. Loraleigh's eyes widened as big as saucers, she never thought this day would come. 'Santa?' She spoke, as if she'd seen a ghost.
'Yes, child?' he replied gently with a smile on his face.
'I never thought you'd come..' She confessed.
'Of course I'd come...' He began, picking up his milk and taking a sip. 'I come to every child in the world, and you Loraleigh, are no exception.'
I hope you enjoyed reading, Merry Christmas and a happy new year! Good luck to everyone that entered!
