Tellaro is a small coastal town in Italy. According to legend, in the Middle Ages the townspeople were once alerted to (saved from) approaching Saracen pirates by a large octopus that climbed up the tower and pulled on the church tower bell rope. In photos, you can see that the tower is right at the shoreline. The "Festival of the Octopus" takes place every year on the second Sunday in August.
