Lentenor is the name of a hunting dog in a painting owned by Gretchen and Roy Jackson, who breed, own and race thoroughbred horses. The other five dogs are named Barbaro, Nicanor, Calypso, Margano and Sereno. Barbaro won the Kentucky Derby, Lentenor was one of his brothrs. IN this painting, Lentenor is second from the right.
This painting also inspired American 20th century humorist James Thurber, who was so enthralled by the dignity and sadness of the dogs in this painting that he spent the rest of his life drawing them.
This pet has been transformed into a Nino and costumed Light Fairy thanks to the generosity of Kam. (July 9, 2017) I will be forever grateful to her.
