Wings of Color

16th Nov 2009 03:04 She sits by the cool blue water
Her spiky red hair has the look of flames
It is an extreme contrast to her snow white skin
The water matches the tears of sorrow
Spilling from her charcoal grey eyes
She is tall, slender and pale
Like an Aspen tree in winter
If it weren't for the flames dancing along her scalp
She would blend in to the snow drift she is propped up against
The white dress draped over her slight frame looks like a lily
She has a small black daisy tucked behind her ear
It brings out her eyes
Making them look like polished stones
As the diamond like tears fall from them to her delicate rose petal cheeks
They freeze and sparkle in the moonlight
The moons reflection on the water has the appearance of a silver coin
She draws a beautiful butterfly in the snow with her long delicate finger
As a tear finds its way to the snow the drawing comes to life
Flitting back and forth looking for color
The butterfly is translucent
The girl can see the trees through it's wings
Finally it lands on her flower and turns black
The girl lets it land on her finger
She looks down at it and says softly
"You and I are the only ones holding color in this lonely place"
She smiles a beautiful crooked smile
No longer alone the tears have stopped
She now sits in the snow and talks to her newfound friend
