13th Jun 2014 14:27 Feeling good about yourself is somewhat key to maintain a happy healthy life.
Whilst the majority of people have at least one thing they hate about themselves, not everyone is unhappy. Why?
It's all about embracing your natural form and being confident with your choices.
There will be some things about yourself that you may not be able to change say, a genetic trait. This is where you'd need to try to embrace it.
It seems difficult, doesn't it? Something you dislike so much but have no power over. You need to think past that.
What or who are you comparing yourself to?
Other people.
Why? You are not them, nor should you aim to be.
Aim to be you, because "Wanting to be someone else is a waste of who you are". If you're too busy being someone else, who's being you?
Remember to be you, and be happy that you are you.
Most people are unhappy about their body image. This includes weight issues and skin and scarring etc, etc.
This is usually something you have the decision to change.
True, some people's genetics create them as larger people. This does not mean they are unhealthy. You could be huge and healthy.
Let's take being overweight or even just "not skinny" as an example. this is something you can change. Whilst it's not necessary in order to be happy- sometimes it CAN be beneficial to lose it, it make you feel healthier and stuff which is meant to be good. Something like that ^^
With this again, you're comparing yourself to others. Maybe you aspire to be the same weight as your friends- or less. Or maybe you've been on Tumblr and all those damn thinspo people are getting you down. Don't give in to it! Do things for YOU, not to appeal to others.
It's okay to not like things about yourself! Just don't let it destroy you as a person. You are b e a u t i f u l.
Now, you probably still don't believe it. You can't see past your flaws.
Here's a fact, we are born to be more critical of ourselves in hopes to thrive for better. BUT. why do we do this? In order to become more appealing to others. This isn't necessary! Your life is not to be led by those who are not yourself. Do you see your friends as ugly and less of a human because they are not perfect as we so often see celebrities as? No. Now turn that around. Do your friends see you as less of a person because of minor and insignificant flaws you see in yourself?
No.
People don't see the flaws you think so badly of. They see past that.
If they can, why can't you?
So next time you're looking in the mirror poking your stomach or squishing your cheeks trying to turn yourself into Benedict Cumberbatch, remember that you're you.
You're fabulous.
