The Town Hall has been improved. Every time that you use a 'Username Certificate' you will now own your new username and your current username forever. You can then visit the Town Hall at any time and switch between your usernames for FREE once per hour. Every player can also change their username from lowercase to uppercase at any time for FREE too. Example, if you joined with a username 'mAraPets' you can go to the Town Hall and change it to 'marapets' or 'Marapets' for FREE. Players who use a 'Username Certificate' also have the option to show players their original username, all usernames or keep them all private. All usernames will show on the site search.



If you haven't already noticed, we have made over 500,000 Usernames available by removing some really old, dead accounts.

The Charms shop is now restocking 11 new items.




The Auctions have been improved. They are making good use of the new servers now and are running much faster and more reliable.

We have also completely recoded the Site Search. The new servers have allowed it to be much smarter and more powerful. When you search for items, members or pets it will show you the exact match at the top and all of the results containing your search below. Items now have the 'Price Check' feature, members show those who are online now at the top of the search and when you search for pets, it now shows the pet colour, species and owner.



The Pet High Scores and Greedy Fairy have been improved. Frozen accounts or banned pets will no longer show up and be awarded prizes.

We have successfully completed our Site Maintenance. As many of you may know, we own our own servers and have had them hosted in Los Angeles for over 8 years now. Just before our 10th Birthday events, one of our main database servers died. All of our servers were getting old, more unreliable and we running way past their shelf life! We have replaced all of our hardware and moved to Dallas, Texas. Marapets is now running on state of art computing cluster, with 80 x Intel Xeon E5 2.5GHz processors, 256GB of RAM, 10TB of high speed storage and 40GB/s infiband network. This will allow us to release a lot of features for Marapets that we couldn't before, it will stop any lag or glitches we had before and as you may have noticed, load Marapets blazingly fast!

We would like to thank you all for your patience while we completed the move. We had to backup, move, import, configure and test everything from the old servers to the new servers in those hours that we were down. Everything went amazingly well and the downtime is over.

We would like to give you all a heads up that Marapets will be Down for Maintenance within the next 48 hours - most likely sometime tomorrow October 3rd. We will give you plenty of warning and there is no need to do anything. As we mentioned at the start of the 10 Year birthday events, our servers were getting old and slowly unreliable. We have since ordered brand new hardware and have been busy setting it up. It will soon be time for us to close Marapets for a 6-12 hours while we move all data and test out the new system.

During this time, Marapets will show a 'Down for Maintenance' page with frequent updates. The new system will be much more reliable, faster and allow us to release a lot of new features and improvements to the site that the old hardware simply couldn't handle. We appreciate your patience and promise to keep you all updated. Once everything is back, we will return to normal news updates and finish the Birthday events, which was put on hold while we focused 100% of our attention on this.

Its finally happened! You've been asking for 10 years now and a Username Certificate has been released allowing you to change your Username. Visit the Town Hall in the City of Marada to use this item from the Account Upgrades shop. You can change your username as many times as you like but your older usernames will never leave you. If your username is 'Ian' and you change it to 'Ian2', the 'Ian' username will still work at the login page.

Other players will never be able to use your older usernames once they have changed. Both your new username and any of your previous usernames will still link to your account on the site search.

There were over 700 Eye & Face Makeup items that actually only had 5 or 6 different styles. To add new styles of make up in future, we would need to add the item 178 times for every different colour. This made no sense, so have changed all of these items. No items were deleted, they were instead changed to either Eye or Face Makeup Colour changing items, a new type of Eye or Face Makeup or new colours of Hair Dye and Eyebrow Tint.

A new celebrity, Michael Jackson, has been honoured at the Lowlyhood Walk of Fame. There are new 'MJ' celebrity clothes that are now avaliable for FREE at the Clothing Rack. Five new Michael Jackson Hair Styles have been added to the Salon. There are also new gloves, belts, hats and shoes on sale in various parts of the site.

The Restock system for the main shops in Marada has been updated. You may have noticed we have replaced the old, easily abused security codes with newer ones that will guarantee only genuine players can buy the items. Codes will only show on certain items - rare, expensive or unbuyable items. As items decrease in value or demand, the security code will be automatically removed. All other items will have no security codes at all but you can only buy one of the same item every 30 seconds.

The new codes also mean that we can make Restocking more interesting. All shops can now restock items of up to rarity 40 - meaning that there are some super rare items that will only show up a few times a week or month! There are 83 new items now restocking in several different shops.












All Quests have been updated. We have increased the rewards of all quests. The layout has also been improved, with the 'Check Price' feature making it easier and faster for you to complete quests. We have also removed the old codes from quests and replaced them with the newer codes, which will only randomly show up.

Marapets is now back to normal. A week ago our DNS crashed while under attack and because it was old, we upgraded it. While upgrading that, our load balancer - which was even older and has been running constantly without any downtime for 8 years and 7 months - crashed too. It took hours to get it back online and fix it but after a couple of hours it was clear that it was dying and needed replacement. For no reason at all, as you may have noticed the past few days, it would work as normal and then suddenly lag, hang or timeout. This has been happening for the past few days, getting worse every hour - we were literally watching its disks fail one after one.

Finding a replacement this fast was not easy, especially being a weekend and getting it set up and installed this fast was not easy or cheap! However, its done and we are now finished. It is brand new, faster and more reliable. We have also put a second one on order for redundancy in the future, so if one fails we have the other for backup. Thanks for your patience :)

We would like to apologise for Marapets yesterday. While we are celebrating the fact that Marapets hit a decade, yesterday was our servers reminding us of the fact that some of them are 7 or 8 years old! Our load balancer, which has been really good to us for the past 6 years and 8 months, crashed and yesterday was doing whatever it wanted, whenever it wanted. Yesterday we just had to wait it out until the DNS records updated, which can take 24 hours or longer sometimes - anyone who cannot still load Marapets should restart their router, PC and flush their DNS. We've ordered a replacement that will be set up as soon as we get it. Anyway, here is the new Moonlight Troit!

The Hair Dye Shop in Lush Lake is now restocking 79 new Eyebrow Tint items. They are the same colours as hair dye and can be added to your wardrobe to change the colour of your character's eyebrows.
