Understand

3rd May 2007 21:45 You went far away when I was 8, You were called to leave your wife and child far behind I didn't understand back than the way I do now. The hardship you were faced with, just to live, yet wondering how, you left with many others who didn't know the score and now you've often wondered if they made it through the war, You've seen your brothers dying in pain with hearts so sad, you've pictured your return home and how your mom would be so glad, you'd hold your family close to you and tell them how their love, had helped you to hold on along with God above.
Often times you've been afraid how much you'd never say, praying with uncertainty that you'd go home someday, Christmas times and Father's Day were really hard on you alone except with your buddies and the old Red, White and Blue, At times you were so mad, You wanted just to run but your pride could never let you, You must stand behind your gun, You've often been so sick and tired from booze the night before, you didn't want to die but living seemed like such a chore, You'd dream about your wife and just how true she'd be and would she still be waiting when you finally crossed the sea.
Then one day, it finally came and you were headed home, they told you no more suffering but your heart it felt like stone, how could you forget the things that you had seen, the friends and the childern who had faced their final means, many miles away on a bloody battlefield, man against man, trying to convience yourself that it was in Gods plans, you knew you'd never be the same but could they understnad? The man that left one year ago was now a different man.
To you I send this message, because I understand you were willing to give your life for the profit of the land and although you just can't say the words, I know you love me more then all the world, The same as I Love You.
LOVE YOUR DAUGHTER......
