6/9/14, Day that will Live in Infamy for Me

28th Jun 2010 11:52 Segments from my forum post I wish to save about the Gold Necklace Re-release. I am saving it before I type something I regret and it gets closed (again...).
My near 7 year journey was suddenly corrupted a few days ago. The Holy Grail in my gallery, of a value around 35,000,000 MP was reduced to a price of > 800,000... My Murfin gallery was reduced in value by around 30 MILLION and I want to express my revolt and disgust with IAN as he ruined my favorite pet. The Murfin. While I was saddened to learn of their "UPDATE"(AKA RAT-IFICATION) I continued to play as most where not "UPDATED". Now even more are rats and my Gold Murfin Necklace, which I paid for with 20 MILLION MP Pure and a couple million more in items (not to mention years of search) was chopped up into something a newbie could buy after his 1st week. I am distraught to see my years of dedication to my favorite pet reduced to an old obsession over an ugly rat, and many millions wasted down the crapper. Just check my gallery if you want to see what I mean. Ian, I dare say I despise you now!
While I thank you for your compassion, I wold like to point out that I did not put this here to argue over the validity of how angry I am over this. Not only that, but a buch more of my urfins were Rat-ified at the same time, including my starry one that has been with me since the beginning, as if to mock me. One of the only reasons I have come back to this site was because of my dedication towards my gallery. You know that jewel in the city under the mountain? Ya? Well, that was the Murfin Amulet for me. It was the one thing that I could point to and say, ya, I'm that dedicated to my Murfins, to Marapets, to my memories and excitement over the day I finished me many years of journeying toward a completed gallery. Now my gallery has lost so much of its value that I see it as a half~ attempt at being special. It is a fraction as impressive as it was before. I had one of only 3 or 4 known to exist, and the only one left on an active player. Now my most valuable item has become my greatest loss, memory, and disappointment. While I don't hate the game, seeing me Murfins, gallery, of even just this game reminds me of how happy I felt when I received it. But then how disappointed I felt as my greatest triumpg in this game became my greatest loss.
Response: (...Just because it was valuable at one point doesn't mean it always will be because that given time it was.)
AT THAT GIVEN TIME (-)! AT THAT GIVEN TIME!!! It is one of the earliest retired items in the game! And they didn't just release a few, no, they sent out many! Why not make quell potions a quick 800k? Why not? Who cares about the people who bought one for a few million? Oh, but wait, the Necklace was worth more than a single LE... Hmm, maybe we should re-release all retired costumes? Would that satisfy those who spent years tracking down old retired items? Or is it the idea that the items shouldn't be RE RELEASED FREELY and EASILY OBTAINED that makes them valuable? Next time you think this is a GREAT IDEA or an ECONOMICAL GAMBLE, think about other rare items and their collectors.
I am not angery at the loss of 20,000,000 MP, I care little for the cash. The fact is I am angry that it is no longer rare, that a newbie could hold one of the original items in the game, that my ownership of the item has lost all respect. I would be fine if a few were given out, like the retired items that are given out is sets of around 5 (I think) every week. BUT NO! THE ONE ITEM THAT MEANS THE MOST TO MY GALLERY IS REDUCED TO LESS THAN THE VALUE OF A SINGLE NON-RETRED AU COSTUME!
Response(...You still got it back when it was rare though. It's not like it took you any less effort to get it just because it's cheap now.)
Ya, but that doesn't change the fact that I could have waited a few years, bagged it now, and no one would know the difference. Is it so hard to understand that I have a problem with the IDEA behind this? The item has lost what it once represented. My dedication towards my gallery. I'd give everything else in my gallery to have that necklace go back to its TRUE VALUE!
I mean, it isn't like it was a gamble! Why don't they give out other retired items. Who knows? Perhaps they will give out a couple hundred old costumes tomorrow or Retired Limited Edition Potions. But wait, none of those are as rare as the items in question now.
