Her eyes flicked away from the tiles and then to the two people she was standing before. They looked friendly enough. One was a girl, the other a boy. The two of them seemed to be the same age as her, or, at least close enough to it. She said nothing as she watched them with her startling auburn eyes.

She stepped into the marble tiled kitchen, and her eyes readjusted to the bright light after coming from dim lighting. It was a nicely furnished kitchen, if she did think so herself. There were--marble? or was it granite?--counters and stainless steel kitchen equipment. She took a closer look at the flooring and there were terra-cotta tiles decorating it.
