"Well, it was the end of soccer practice for me. I was only 13 that day. My house lived only four blocks away; I could walk. But I was tired from training, and absolutely forced my mother to come pick me up. She gave in and started driving here. Next thing I knew, she was dead. She was crossing intersections, and some crazed driver didn't stop at the stop sign and--and--" Dawn stopped, as tears flowed relentlessly down her face as she stared at her hands. "My father died of grief a few months later; he loved her so much. I was an orphan; exiled to an orphanage. But I hated that place, they mistreated me so much that I ran away. Luckily, I was able to live in college for a while, and went to med school, because I had gotten top grades. They gave me the money for everything. I didn't deserve it. So, after med school, I came to live here. I was only 16 at the time; I had finished medical school early."
